FOOTBALLERS from a Durham pub will be travelling to Birmingham this weekend to try and become the nation's best five-a-side football team.
Two squads from the Derby in Bishop Auckland are among the 26 finalists in the Punch Pub Cup, a national five a side tournament organised by Punch Pub Company and sponsored by Carlsberg.
The action takes place on Sunday and Derby licensee Andrew Delve thinks his players are in with a chance of walking away with the trophy and top prize.
He said: "We are delighted that both our teams have managed to get this far - it means we double our chances of winning."
Geoff Brown, Punch Pub Company's head of marketing, added: "It promises to be a tremendously exciting event and we would like to wish the Derby - and all the other finalists - the very best of luck."
With more than 200 entrants, the Punch Pub Cup is one of the biggest inter pub five a side tournaments ever staged in the UK.
