A MAN whose wife was diagnosed with cancer at 26 is turning to pedal power to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
Darren Weston is one of four members of staff from Halfords, in Bishop Auckland and Darlington, who will complete a 1,400-mile bike tour for the charity.
Mr Weston's wife, Marianne, now 34, has fully recovered.
Mr Weston is aiming to raise £2,000 for Cancer Research UK as well as increasing awareness of the illness.
Mr Weston will be tackling the Hell of the North route with David Fullerton, Christopher Lax and Stuart Wearmouth, on June 15.
Mr Weston is warming up for the trip with another sponsored bike ride at the Dolphin Centre to raise money for Radio Skerne at Darlington Memorial Hospital.
If any businesses in Darlington wish to sponsor the event, contact Mr Weston at Halfords on (01388) 602019.
