MAST DELAYED: A bid for a phone mast in Hawes has been shelved for a month by Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority planners. The debate over Orange's bid for an antenna at the Brunt Acres Industrial Park is now expected to be tabled at the committee's next meeting in June.
SCHOOL AWARD: A Dales primary school has been presented with an award in recognition of improvements made recently. Notice of the School Achievement Award came in a letter from the Minister for School Standards, Stephen Timms. It also follows a positive Ofsted report.
SCHOOL'S BOOST: Freemasons from Leyburn have handed over a cheque for £250 to nearby Askrigg Primary School. The money will be invested in educational and sport trips.
TOWN HALL FAIR: An antiques and collectors fair will be held in Richmond Town Hall to help raise cash for the Richmondshire Museum. Doors open at 10am on Sunday, May 26, Admission will cost 50p.
Minor succcess: The Jorvik branch of the Morris Minor Owners' Club held its annual charity fundraising event last week and raised £500. The cash will go towards buying a retinal screening machine for the diabetic centre at York District Hospital and part will also go to Christian Aid.
School days: The Cat's Eye theatre company is performing Sue Townsend's play Groping for Words at Helmsley Arts Centre, next Saturday, at 7.30pm. The play tells the story of staff and pupils at an inner city school. Tickets cost £8, concessions £7, and are available on (01439) 771700.
Station revamp: Harrogate Borough Council has approved plans to redevelop Knaresborough's derelict bus station. The proposals include housing and retail units.
Charity cash: The Kirkbymoorside branch of the NSPCC raised £272 through stalls set up in the town's memorial hall last week.
Choir performs: An evening of song and poetry will be performed by the Jubilate Choir in Easingwold Methodist Church on Tuesday, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £5 and will be available at the door.
