SCORES of classical music fans enjoyed two rousing concerts at the weekend.
A Promenade for Youth and A Last Night of the Proms, in Darlington, attracted performers and audiences from throughout the region.
Youngsters including The Darlington Youth Band and The Egglescliffe School Orchestra took to the stage on Friday night at the youth event.
In total, 120 young people performed in the warm-up concert to the main event on the Saturday night.
For the first time in its six-year history, A Last Night of the Proms was enjoyed by a full capacity audience.
After performances by, among others, the Tees Valley 2000 Pipes and Drums, the crowd joined in the fun with renditions of Pomp and Circumstance and Rule Britannia.
Both events, organised by Music for Darlington, were supported by The Northern Echo, and the winner of the newspaper's Young Soprano of the Year competition, Sanaz Lavasani, performed on Saturday.
Sadly, the runner-up in the competition, Sally Kelly, was unable to perform as advertised at A Promenade for Youth because of a throat infection.
All money raised from the two events will be donated to St Teresa's Hospice in Darlington, Darlington and District Age Concern, Darlington Mind and The Corps of Army Music Trust.
