A GROUP of young rollerskaters are to represent Great Britain at an international competition.
The Durham and District Rollerskating Club meets for training at the Sunnydale Leisure Centre, Shildon.
Five girls from the club have been selected to take part in a competition in Germany as members of the British team.
The skaters are: Rachel Masters, 24, from Darlington; Joanne Lightburn, 24, from Darlington; Katie Lodge, 15, from Newton Aycliffe; Emma Gaffney, 25, from Redcar; and Laura Gaffney, 16 also from Redcar.
Unfortunately, Laura is unable to take up her place in the British team because the competition clashes with her GSCE exams.
The others will be joined at the competition by another skater from the region, Karen Davison, from Middlesbrough, who trains at a different venue.
