Tim Easterby is aiming to hit the jackpot again this summer after seeing another cheaply-bought two-year-old filly set out on the big-race trail with a win at Thirsk on Saturday.
He has won Newbury's £125,000 Weatherbys Super Sprint with Flanders and Good Girl in the past four seasons and the trainer is already looking ahead to this year's race on July 20 for On The Brink. His latest potential star made her experience tell in the EBF Carlton Miniott Novice Fillies' Stakes.
The 6-4 favourite was much more quickly away than when runner-up on her Haydock debut, led two furlongs out under Fergal Lynch and scored by a length from highly-touted newcomer Irresistible, who lost her chance with a very slow start.
''On The Brink is a nice filly,'' said Easterby. ''First time out she was a bit green and couldn't quite pick them up but it came right today.
''That could be quite a good race as the second is a very nice filly. We will probably run her next in the Hilary Needler Trophy at Beverley and see where we go from there. But she is definitely a filly for the Newbury Super Sprint.
''She will improve as the year goes on as she is a big filly but she has got a big engine.''
Easterby completed an 111/2-1 double with 4-1 shot Freya's Dream in the Eat, Sleep At The Feversham Helmsley Handicap.
