FOOTBALL star Alan Shearer and TV sports presenter Gabby Logan have sung the praises of a charity music event to be staged in the North-East next month.
The Prince's Trust, the country's leading youth charity, will benefit from proceeds of the Galaxy Out There concert, which will feature some of the country's best dance, R&B and chart-topping acts.
Gabby Logan, one of the first female football pundits to become a household figure on the small screen, said it was fitting that the music mara-thon would provide support for a concern such as the Prince's Trust.
"The trust helps to give all sorts of people a better chance in life, whether to do a vocational course, further their education or help them to gain a foothold on the job ladder," she said.
"It's great that loads of people will go to the concert, not only to see a host of top names, but to help raise thousands of pounds to help to contribute towards the work of the trust."
The Durham University old girl added: "What's more, all the money will stay in the North-East to help local young people."
Her sentiments were endorsed by the Newcastle United striker and former England skipper, who said: "The concert will be huge and will be fantastic for putting the region under the spotlight.
"What better way to raise money for the Prince's Trust."
The line up so far includes names such as Blue, Sugababes, Mis-teeq, Daniel Beddingfield and Liberty X, with the £17.50 ticket charge, plus booking fee, working out at less than £1 per artist.
Gateshead International Stadium will be the venue, on Saturday, June 29. Tickets are available via a booking hotline, on 0870-730 7305, and at all HMV stores.
