A COLLEGE is staging a series of short courses dealing with a wide variety of skills.
The Learning and Skills Council's Bite Size initiative is taking place at Darlington College of Technology until June 21.
The aim is to give people of all ages and backgrounds a "no risk" taste for learning.
There will be a total of 47 introductory courses covering such things as running a restaurant to coping with attention deficit hyperactive disorder.
Nan Berry, the college's head of adult and community learning, said: "The aim of the Bite Size intros is to get people back into learning with a mixture of fun and serious subjects, and the hope is that once they get a taste for it they may well decide to come back into full or part-time learning."
