A SERIES of events has been planned in Darlington to coincide with National Noise Action Day tomorrow.
Three displays have been set up across the town by Darlington Borough Coun-cil's environmental health team.
They will be on display until Friday at the Dolphin Centre; Ottakar's entrance to the Cornmill shopping centre; and the art gallery, in Crown Street library.
Tomorrow, council officers will be available at the Cornmill display from 9am to noon and at the library from 1pm to 3pm, to give advice on noise nuisance issues such as loud music, barking dogs and security alarms.
Visits will also be made to Beaumont Hill School today and tomorrow, with officers talking about noise in general and giving pupils experience with noise meters.
Borough councillor Vin Bloxsome, chairman of the Northern Division of the National Society of Clean Air and Environmental Protection, said: "Noise is a year-round problem for many people and it can literally ruin their quality of life.
"Noise Action Day helps to focus on noise as an issue and to help people find out how they can tackle this everyday nuisance."
The society organises the event every year.
