A NEW headteacher is to take charge of a village primary school.
Mark Allison, who is headteacher of Crakehall Primary School, near Bedale, North Yorkshire, will move to Hurworth Primary, near Darlington, in September.
The 41-year-old has worked in North Yorkshire for the past five years. The first 12 years of his career was spent in Buckinghamshire.
Mr Allison, who is originally from east Yorkshire, has a degree in environmental studies. His wife, Kathleen, is also a primary school teacher.
The couple have two primary school-aged children.
Mr Allison's interests include sport and music. He has played the guitar in a variety of bands, ranging from rock, to folk to jazz.
He hopes to carry on the good work of his predecessor, Trevor Drury, and said he plans to "develop the happy and caring environment in which the children can flourish".
"I'm very much looking forward to September and working with the people in the school and the wider community," he said
