A GROUP representing disabled people in Darlington is to meet council officers to discuss refuse collection.
Darlington Association on Disability has organised a meeting at the town hall on Thursday, which will give people the chance to give their views on roadside litter collections.
Darlington Borough Council recently introduced on-street collections for household refuse, which the association claims will cause problems for disabled people in the town.
Many residents have previously had their rubbish collected from their homes, but councillors agreed to change the system to only roadside collections.
Gordon Pybus, of the Darlington Association on Disability, said: "This could cause great problems for elderly or disabled people in the town.
"The problems are twofold - getting refuse to the roadside and once there, the obstruction it could cause.
"There is now no doubt that the council is to start this form of collection and it is to the advantage of ourselves and others that we work with the council to eliminate any inconvenience this may cause."
Officers from the council will attend the meeting to respond to any queries people may have.
The meeting, which will be held in Room 2 at 1.30pm, is open to the public.
