A SOLDIER from Fishburn is part of an expedition to provide health care to children born with HIV.
Private Craig Willis, who used to attend Sedgefield Community College, is working with Masai tribesmen in Kenya as part of a British Army exercise.
The aim is to provide health and dental care, health education and veterinary support to local villages in remote parts of the country.
Pt Willis said: "It is so hard seeing small children that have been born with HIV and you know have only months to live once Aids develops.
"The roads are absolutely dreadful and it's a challenge getting to the villages in one piece. But I wouldn't miss an opportunity like this for the world. Working with Masai tribesmen while zebras go past the tent is something I will always remember.
