British boxing hopeful Audley Harrison won his fifth straight professional fight last night as he was taken to a points decision by Yorkshireman Mark Krence.
Harrison deserved the win but it proved to be the hardest fight of his career since he turned professional after winning his Olympic super-heavyweight gold medal.
In a wholely unimpressive performance Harrison won the six-round contest 58 points to 55 against his former sparring partner.
Krence acted as Harrison's sparring partner for the run up the his scheduled fight with Dominic Negus but when Negus pulled out Krence was given the opportunity to take a crack at Harrison.
Harrison weighted in two stones heavier than his opponent but Krence still made a good account of himself and even managed to rock Audley in the fourth.
Although Harrison took some punches in the fight he still believes that his boxing career is still on course. Harrison's American trainer Thell Torrance said: "I was satisfied with his performance because it gave us the opportunity to have a look at some of the things he has got to work on."
