FORUMS for bus passengers to give their views on services could be set up in County Durham. The proposal will be considered by Durham County Council's cabinet tomorrow, following a presentation by Dr Caroline Cahm, of the National Federation of Bus Users, to a county transport seminar. Similar forums are operating in other parts of the country.

BOOT SALE: The Friends of Gainford School are holding a car boot sale in the school playground on Saturday, June 15. The gates will open to sellers at 8.30am and to buyers at 9.30am. Pitches are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
BAND FUNDS: Teesdale Pipes and Drums collected £509 when they played for shoppers in Bishop Auckland earlier this month.

FARM WALKS: Shildon Walkers are meeting at Middridge Village Hall tonight, at 6.30pm, to cover some of the Aycliffe Circular Walk to Windlestone Hall, Windlestone Hall Farm and Middridge. Next Wednesday, the group will meet at Betty's Fish Shop, in Redworth Road, for a five-mile trek along Johnny Best Beck to Tod Falls Farm and Newbiggin Farm.
BIKE STOLEN: A Diamondback Ascent mountain bike, worth £400, was stolen from the garden of a house in Harebell Meadows, Woodham, Newton Aycliffe, between 10pm on Sunday and 6am on Monday.
MODERN TWIST: The Shildon Tearaways youth drama group will be performing a modern version of the Charles Dickens classic Oliver Twist at the Civic Hall from June 12 to 14, at 7pm each night. For tickets call (01388) 774838.

WINDOW SMASHED: Seven leaded windows were smashed with an air rifle at a funeral director's in Linden Road, West Cornforth, between 5pm on May 15 and 11pm on Sunday.
