ONE of the region's leading music festivals is to start with a concert for the Queen's Golden Jubilee.
Harrogate International Festival, in North Yorkshire, will be launched at the town's International Centre.
The concert, by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, on July 18, features Chloe Hanslip, a 14-year-old violin prodigy.
The festival, which runs until August 3, will provide music, dance and comedy.
Highlights include recitals by Julian Lloyd Webber, Emma Johnson and John Will.
The Danish National Symphony Orchestra will perform at the International Centre on July 31, at 8pm, in celebration of Denmark's presidency of the European Union this summer.
The Royal Hall will host Yorkshire's award-winning Black Dyke Band.
On Sunday, July 21, the town's Valley Gardens will be the venue for a festival fiesta, in what has been billed as a fun-filled day of free family entertainment.
Bookings can be made on (01423) 537230.
