THE outgoing chairman of Chilton Parish Council has raised more than £4,500 for charity during his year in office.
Councillor Alan Bruce held a presentation evening at Chilton and Windlestone Workingmen's Club.
Much of the money was raised at events during the year, including charity concerts, dances and the first Chilton Parish Council dinner.
Coun Bruce presented cheques for £1,688 to Frank Forrest, from the New Chilton Banner Fund, and Olga Bainbridge, of the NSPCC, his chosen charities for the year.
He also received a donation for £313 for the NSPCC to make the sum up to £2,002.
There was another £1,000 raised during the evening, including £570 for a signed Newcastle United football which was auctioned.
It means that Coun Bruce raised a grand total of £4,690.60 during the year.
The remainder of the money will go towards village projects
