PUPILS from two schools are hoping to win their own World Cup on Saturday at a six-a-side soccer tournament.
Youngsters from Pallister Park Primary School, Middlesbrough, and Ravensworth Junior School, Normanby, will take part in the Sporting Chance World Cup.
The Huddersfield event, sponsored by Yorkshire Water, will follow the same format as the Fifa World Cup starting the following week and will see 32 teams from the north compete.
Each school will represent a nation competing in the Fifa tournament. Pallister Park will represent South Korea and Ravensworth will play as Croatia.
Sports Minister Richard Caborn will attend, alongside Premiership referee Steven Lodge, who will take charge of the final.
Dave Hammond, a teacher at Ravensworth, said: "The children are really excited to be representing Croatia, especially considering Middlesbrough's Alen Boksic will be playing for them this summer.
"It is the highlight of their footballing season and a superb reward for all the hard work they have put in over the year."
