A GOOD Samaritan couple are being urged to come forward and help police in Hartlepool catch a mugger who attacked an elderly woman.
The pensioner was robbed after leaving Middleton Road post office on May 2 by a man who snatched her bag and ran into Joyce Court. While the woman from the couple who witnessed the attack comforted the victim, the man chased the thief and took back the handbag. They are being asked to contact (01642) 302126.
LICENCE APPLICATION: Stockton Borough Council's licensing committee meets next week to discuss plans to renew an entertainment licence for Shanghai Surprise, Prince Regent Street, Stockton. The premises, which are currently closed, are licensed for music, singing and dancing from 9am to 2am on a Monday to Saturdays and 9am to midnight on Sundays.
FLOWER ART: Marske Library is staging an exhibition of watercolour paintings, based mainly on a floral theme, by local artist Wendy Ainley. The exhibition runs until June 22.
JUBILEE FETE: Marske Town Centre Partnership will be in the town square on Saturday morning to promote the Golden Jubilee 1950s-style garden fete, to be held on Saturday, June 1, in the grounds of the Cheshire Home at Marske.
BAVARIAN MUSIC: An evening of Bavarian music takes place at the Sir William Turner's Hospital, Kirkleatham, on Saturday at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5, from Sotheran's at Redcar on (01642) 490401.
COFFEE MORNING: The Edward Guy Foundation for Hospice Care is holding a coffee morning, with stalls and a raffle, at Sunnyfield House, Guisborough on Saturday, from 10am to noon. The proceeds will go to the Edward Guy Daycare Centre at Teesside Hospice.
CHEQUE PRESENTED: Former Redcar and Cleveland mayor Councillor Vilma Collins has presented Marske Town Centre Partnership with a cheque for £100 towards the town's Christmas lights.
VILLAGE FAIR: Wolviston Village Association is holding a fair on the playing field on Saturday, from noon to 4pm. Attractions include pony rides, fun fair, quad bikes and Northfield School Band
