CHAMPAGNE and cocktails have been replaced by the best Yorkshire bitter at the world's most glamorous movie festival.
Stars such as Cameron Diaz and Sharon Stone are being offered a pint of Black Sheep ale from the Masham brewery as they mingle with the film elite in Cannes.
The Black Sheep Brewery decided to lend its support to the French film festival when it learned that the Yorkshire Screen Commission would be at the event promoting the region's films and actors.
More used to supplying the Woolpack in Emmerdale than the likes of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, the brewery offered to send some samples and merchandise out to France so the screen commission could enjoy a taste of home.
Pat Green from the brewery said: "We were more than happy to send some beer out to Cannes.
"We thought it would be good for the people from the Yorkshire Screen Commission to be reminded of home and then they asked for some merchandise to show their clients.
"It's great to think that some of the top film stars might be enjoying our beer out in France."
As well as the possibility of gaining some famous fans, the Black Sheep brewery is hoping its promotion at Cannes will help the Yorkshire economy which was devastated by the foot-and-mouth crisis.
Mr Green said: "Following the effects of foot-and-mouth we are keen to do whatever we can to promote the Yorkshire area."
