THE first store sheep sale at Northallerton Auction Mart since the foot-and-mouth crisis began last year saw Mule shearlings with lambs sell to £119 on Wednesday.
The judge, Maurice Dale of Londonderry, awarded first prize to shearlings with double lambs from J L, E & R A Hunter of Riffa, near Otley, which were sold to Ian Bowe of Gatenby for £119 each. The second prize shearlings, from J L Hunter, Riffa, sold at £114 to I & W C Pattison of Yafforth.
M J Simpson of East Rounton showed the first prize of ewes and lambs and these went to M & O Trewitt of Pickhill for £109 each. Second place went to J R Walton of Brompton whose winning stock sold for £92 each to Corner Bros of Sessay.
