Redcar and District League Division Two
Bottom team Red Barnes were away to Cleveland B and went 5-0 up through R Parker, J McGasson, P Wilson, A Petite and J Lowrenson with R Parker and J McGlasson winning their first games of the season. M Newton made it 5-1. Reds then won 2-3 doubles for only their second win of the season. Cleveland C hosted third placed Beacon and came up with a shock result. A Hartshorn put Cleveland 1-0 up with T Davison making it 1-1 with an eight-ball clearance. D Richardson and R Morley made it 3-1 to the Cleve. M Jones then made it 3-2 after a rerack. N Barclay made it 4-2. Cleve then won 2-3 doubles for a 6-3 win.
The Lobster went to the George and went 2-0 up with wins from P Allen and A Whittle. J Cook then won the George's only point to get player of the match. K McCormack, L Graydon and D Truss made it 5-1. Lobster then won all three doubles to win the match 8-1.
Hydro were at home to the Barns A in a good humoured game. K Horne, G Davies, A Reed and R Turner made it 4-0, M Mitchell made it 5-0 and K Watson 5-1. Hydro then won 2-3 doubles for a 7-2 win.

Division One
Hydro B were away to the Coble A and after taking over top of the league last week they put in another solid display winning the match 9-0 with P Jones, S Grey, P McCabe, I Moylan, M Davies and J Bell playing well. Third from bottom Cleveland A were at second placed West 2A and in a good effort G Taylor, M Bass and I McKenna won frames 1,3,4 to make it 3-3 in the singles. The first two doubles were shared West 2 then won the last doubles for a close 5-4 win.

Yarm and District League
The Captain's Cup took place at Yorkshire Dragoon, 16 captains from the league looked to win it.
In the first round Oddfellows' captain M Roberts defeated the Beckfield captain V Forman to go to the next round.
Other results: G Kitchen (Eagle) got a first round bye. A Coyne (Pavilion) defeated C Harker (Y Dragoon A). H Nevison (Eaglescliffe A) beat S Elliott (Queen Vic B); S Atkins (Queen Vic A) defeated M Ellis (Y Dragoon B) with an excellent clearance. W Crellin (Blue Bell) defeated T Moran (Eaglescliffe/Bar) and the captain of the Griffin beat the captain of the Layfield B.
In round two G Kitchen beat A Coyne to go into the semi-final. H Nevison beat S Atkins. C Hills beat W Crellin to get to the semis. Oddfellow captain picked up a bye into the semis.
In the semis M Roberts (Oddfellows) took on G Kitchen (Eagle) and took the first game. Then G Kitchen took frame two and the game to book his place in the final. In the other semi H Nevson (Eaglescliffe A) took on C Hills (Griffin) in a tight match, both players playing nip and tuck all the way. In the end H Nevison came out 2-0 winner to book his place in the final.
In the final it was tense with both players trying not to let the other in. G Kitchen took the first frame and in the second he made no mistake to take the frame and match and become the new Captain's Cup champion for the Eagle.
Next week is the knockout cup semi-finals between Blue Bell and Eaglescliffe/Bar and Pavilion against Eagle. In the Millennium Cup Yorkshire Dragoon B are against Oddfellows and Beckfield B against Yorkshire Dragoon A.
Bishop Auckland and District League
The top of the table clash was so close that both teams slipped down the league when Crook Olde Horse Shoe won Convincingly at Bishop Auckland Derby to move above them. Bishop Auckland Snooker Club B were in top spot and entertained second placed Spennymoor Ashtree. The home side took two singles points through Steve Balanaves, Kevin Stewart and Michael Hoggart with Chris Peacock adding one. The visitors' reply came with two points from Paul Biddle and one from Tony Biddle.
The Ashtree took the doubles through Ronnie McAloon and Stephen Jones and then Michael Hoggart and Paul Biddle shared the captain's games.
At the other end of the table, Witton Park Rose and Crown made a good win over the visiting Ferryhill Greyhound. The home side had two points from Paul Frame, Paul McConnell and dean Hodgson with Neil salt adding one. The Greyhound replied with two from Kevin Archer and one from Chris Donald. Neil Blackett and dean Hodgson took the doubles for the home side before Paul Frame and Paul Archer shared the captain's points.

Spennymoor Ash Tree made a brave bid to get away from the foot of the table but just failed when they went down at how by two points to the visiting Coxhoe Red Lion. The home side only managed one singles point when Neil Petch won. The Red Lion had wins from T. Sugden, T. Brown, G. Pennington and G. Mullin. The Ash Tree took the first doubles through D. Rowcroft and A. Thompson only to see the visitors make certain of victory when T. Brown and T. Sugden took the second doubles. The captain's point went to the home side when Gareth Jackson beat S. Turton.
Spennymoor Black Horse lead the table by four points from Spennymoor Quinns Inn, who have a match in hand. Spennymoor Victoria are three points beh ind the Quinns.

Bishop Auckland Area League
After two close opening frames in the quarter finals of the League Doubles Championship, Wilson Harrison and Michael Wright from Bishop Auckland Bay Horse were tied at 1-1 with Darren Briggs and Stephen Santi from the Spennymoor Voltigeur. The Bay Horse pair won the match when Wilson cleared all seven balls plus the black in one visit to clinch the frame and the match.

Tow Law League
Tow Law Rose and Crown took over the top spot in the league for the first time in the history of the league after they whitewashed the visiting Esh Football Club. This result pushed them one point ahead of Tow Law Football Club, who are four in front of Tow Law Cattle Mart, Sunniside Comedian, Tow Law North Point and Lanchester King's Head.
Sunniside Comedian were taken to the deciding doubles before they edged through to victory against the visiting Lanchester King's Head. Lee Cullinan put the Comic ahead with Dave Wales levelling. Jeff Ridley, Morgan Errington and Ray Johnson move the home side into a good lead but Alan Hall took the final singles for the King's Head. The visitors then squared the match by taking the first two doubles. However in the decider the Comedian's pair of Robert Wilkinson and Morgan Errington beat Ronnie Minto and Keith Ridley.
Hamilton Row Black Horse were also taken to the decider by the visiting Tow Law North Point. The singles were shared with Chris Ellis, Derek Graham and Steve Wilkie winning for the Horse with Dave Morton, Colin Armstrong and Stan Simmons replying. The first two doubles were shared and then the Horse went to victory when Steve Wilkie and John Henderson beat Alan Henderson and Colin Armstrong.
