CARP NEWS

Woodland Lakes - Skylark Mallard Swallow & Dragonfly (56 rods) 1 M Lodge (Dick Clegg Osset) 45.8.0 Mallard 12 - all carp to luncheon meat; 2 L Roberts (Map Elton) 44.3.0; 3 D Smith (Map Elton) 36.1.0; At the Woodlands complex on Friday the Clubman of the Year Semi Final (2)

hailed a new venue record when Andy Shaw of Woodlands Park hammered out a magnificent 101.7.0 off Partridge Lake's peg 4 from a field of 111. In sharp contrast to Wednesday's results the carp went on a feeding frenzy and when Andy got to his peg he saw fish tails coming out of the water. A combination of pellet and paste at 3 metres provided the action as carp after carp responded with numerous specimens around the 6.0.0 mark on his way to an unforgettable victory.

Meanwhile Sheffield's Mick Buckler never came close despite a big net of 82.5.0. Drawing on Skylark Lake Mick relied solely on paste at three metres off peg 33 taking all carp throughout.

Others: J Aimer (Elsecarr Colliery) 64.0.0. D Dermott (North West DEA) 62.0.0. Woodland Lakes Summer Pairs Event (Sat) Skylark Partridge Dragonfly Swallow & Mallard (96 pegs) Individuals - 1 D Pimlott (Keenets Elton) 83-8-0; 2 S Burgess (BAS Image) 83.4.0; 3 R Eden (JT Rodgers) 71-13-0; 4 A Geldhart (Diawa Goldthorpe) 71.0.0; 5 S Wood (Map Elton) 68.13-0; 6 R Singh (Elton Tackle) 68-12-0. Armley's untouchable Dave Wright made it two consecutive Wednesday 'ton up' weights at Carpvale Pools Monkton - his latest haul registering an unbelievable 116.0.0 whilst fishing the prolific Cyprio Lake. Dave on peg 7 fished the bomb over to island cover with bread 'pop up' hookbaits collecting 30 carp to include a mixture of mirrors and commons to 8.0.0.

Well behind came East End Park's Bernard Guy who returned 59.4.0 off the next peg. Richmond's Mel Eardley tasted victory during Round 9 of the Abu Spring Series on Cyprio Lake putting a comfortable 44.4.0 onto the scales. Mel casting his method feeder rig into the channel between the island off peg 21 tempted 13 quality carp at intervals swapping between maggot corn and caster hookbaits.

2nd place Andy Gallant of Armley went into the open water off peg 17 utilising 12 metre pole and worm taking 7 carp and 2 bream for 34.10.0. THE sellout field for the eagerly awaited Bradford No 1 AA Pauling Cup found the prolific tench population reluctant to feed on Raskelf Lake at Easingwold and a surprise mainly bream net of 35.4.0 took the spoils for Wibsey's Colin Hardy. Fishing the new recently introduced permanently pegged platforms Colin on peg 45 opted for the pole at 10 metres and cupped in a lot of chopped worm at the onset but with two hours gone he was walking the banks with little to show. Returning to his peg the fish had arrived and alternating worm and pellet 11 quality bream to 4.0.0 3 ide and 2 tench came in a busy second half to clinch the Cup. Runner up Armley's Gary McMasters nearby on peg 47 also found chopped worm most effective. Presenting his bait on the edge of the big willow on the shallow ledge Gary proved the only one to find tench in numbers netting 14 supplemented by 3 bream for 30.15.0. In the Teesside League round 5 on Maple Lake at Sessay Ian Bowman almost doubled the runner up bagging 64.10.0.
