TWO cousins appeared in court at Harrogate yesterday accused of arson and conspiracy.
Adrian James Stewart, 31, and William Leonard Stewart, 28, who had shared a flat in Chatsworth Place, Harrogate, with a third man - due before the court next week - were sent to York Crown Court for trial.
They will make an initial appearance there next Thursday.
The cousins are charged with damaging by fire last Monday a house in Franklin Road, Harrogate, belonging to Margaret Greaves, and being reckless as to whether she or other people would have their lives put in danger.
The Stewarts are also accused of conspiring with a third man, Gary Hawkes, to commit burglaries in Harrogate - in the Grove Park Terrace, Grove Road and Franklin Road area - between May 9 and May 23.
Nicholas Ralph, prosecuting, asked for both men to be remanded in custody, but, after a plea by their solicitor, Geoffrey Rogers, presiding magistrate Cecily Horton granted bail.
She imposed conditions that the cousins should live at an address which is available for them to rent at Holbeck Towers, Holbeck, Leeds, and should report to police each Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.
