Charity quiz: The Butterwick Children's Hospice, Stockton, has benefited from a quiz set up by Lloyds TSB Commercial. It raised £275 which was matched by the Lloyds TSB Charitable Foundation, making £550 for the Hospice's Precious Hours Appeal.
RELAXATION DAY: Yoga, aromatherapy and reflexology are on offer at a health and beauty day tomorrow in Middlesbrough. The event, in aid of Teesside Hospice, is at the hospice's education centre in Northgate Road, between 10am and 3pm. Tickets cost £15, and must be booked on (01642) 355866.
SCHOOL PLAN: An application to install football posts, basketball hoops and a 3m fence at Archibald Primary School in Ayresome Green Lane, Middlesbrough has been received by Middlesbrough Council.
KITCHEN FIRE: Firefighters put out a blaze in the kitchen of a flat in Chapman Court, Middlesbrough, yesterday morning. A cooker was severely damaged and the flat was smoke damaged.
MUSHROOM WARNING: People in Stockton are warned not to eat cans of Dragon Boat Shiitake Mushrooms. Tests have shown defects in the cans which could cause food poisoning bacteria. Council officers have checked all 30 Chinese restaurants and take-aways in the borough but no cans were found.
OIL LEAK: Firefighters cleaned up about five litres of oil spillage in Newham Way, Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough, yesterday.
