A POLICE force was given free rein to help celebrate the sovereign's reign.

Two Cleveland Police horses, Sid and Jimmy, joined a Golden Jubilee tribute to the Queen's love of equestrian pursuits, at Windsor Castle.

The two horses and their riders, PC Graeme Smiles and PC Chris Bancroft, joined a 90-horse parade and made their mark. At 17.2 hands, Sid was the tallest horse in the parade while the officers cut a dash in their ceremonial red plumed helmets.

The officers and their mounts had to take part in four days of rehearsals before the ride-past.
