NORTH-EAST rock star Sting is in tune with planners over his bid to open a yoga room in his 17th Century farmhouse in the Lake District.
The star and his actress wife Trudie Styler snapped up the Grade II listed building last year for just under half-a-million.
Now he is locked in negotiations with council chiefs to build the room to practise the ancient relaxation art of Yoga which he is famously recognised for.
The singer would appear to be living up to his reputation as a caring environmentalist after his home improvements were welcomed by national park chiefs and residents in the quiet Lakeland community of Grasmere.
Sting has applied for internal alterations under his real name Gordon Sumner and could start work on his spiritual improvements in a month if there are no objections.
Lake District National Park Authority senior planning officer Rachel Nutman said that because the building was listed, the park authority has control over changes that would not normally require planning consent.
But she revealed that the rock legend, who uses the property as a holiday home, seemed to be in tune with their views.
Miss Nutman said: "It's not about who owns it or how much time they spend there, it's about what they are doing to the property and will it improve it.
"It looks to me as if we are gaining improvements with this."
