YOUNGSTERS will get a sneak preview of a new entrance feature they helped design for their housing estate.
Children from Watergate Estate, Crook, will watch as the feature, which will welcome visitors and create a sense of identity for the estate, is installed on Wednesday.
Art students and residents joined local artist Phil Townsend to design and create the feature, which Groundwork West Durham and Helmington Row and Wheatbottom Community Action Group felt was a priority for the area.
The project received financial support from the European Regional Development Fund, the Single Regeneration Budget and Awards for All Lottery Fund.
Everyone is welcome to the official opening on Friday, from 10.30am, followed by refreshments in Grasmere House, Watergate Estate.
