YOUNG footballers from a Darlington school have managed to emulate Premiership giants Arsenal this season - by winning a league and cup double.
The talented team from Heathfield Primary School managed to win the town's primary school football cup and league, and each player went home with a trophy to mark their achievement.
Heathfield beat Whinfield Junior School by a single goal to secure victory in the cup final, with North Road Primary School and St Bede's RC Primary School playing in the semi-finals.
In the league finals, four schools from across Darlington - all winners of their leagues - took part in a play-off at Longfield School. Heathfield finished top, with Alderman Leach Primary School runners-up.
The events were sponsored by Master Skills Sporting Academy and Darlington Borough Council.
Paul Bielby, of Master Skills Sporting Academy, in Darlington, and Janet Cooper, sports development officer for Darlington Borough Council, thanked everyone involved.
Mrs Cooper said: "We were thrilled with the support from the schools and parents.
"Without the support of the primary school teachers, Longfield School's physical education department and St John's Ambulance, these events could not take place."
