A BLAZE at a city centre business is being treated as a suspected arson attack, police have confirmed.
Fire crews were called to Camera Mart, in Church Street, York, on Friday afternoon after a fire was discovered on stairs leading up to a first-floor hairdressing business. The blaze was quickly extinguished.
Garry Hodgson, manager of Camera Mart, which owns the lease on the entire building, said the fire alarm system did its job.
He said: "There is now a mark on the carpet where somebody tried to set fire to it. No one was hurt, but obviously it was not a nice thing to happen."
