ASPIRING writers are being offered the chance to have their work published and performed as part of a new project.
For anyone over 14 who is interested in play-writing and the theatre - and dreams of seeing their work being performed - City of York Council has launched its Six by Six scheme.
The successful writers will work with Marcus Romer from Pilot Theatre, Bridget Foreman from Riding Lights theatre and Nigel Forde, best known for presenting Radio 4's Bookshelf and will have their plays performed by local theatre groups in 2003.
Colin Jackson, drama consultant for the council's arts service, said: "The Six by Six project is a very exciting opportunity for the arts service to work together with Riding Lights and Pilot Theatre companies and discover the wealth of writing talent in the city of York.
"The only thing we ask is that the writers take their inspiration from the city and the writing is located in or around York and set within the past 50 years."
Anyone wanting further information can telephone (01904) 553440. The closing date for entries is Friday, June 21.
