A COUNCIL is planning to keep all its residents in the picture following the recent visit of the Duke of Edinburgh to the North-East.

It was during the Queen's Golden Jubilee visit to the Easington district of County Durham that Prince Phillip travelled to Shotton Hall, Peterlee, to carry out some royal duties of his own.

The Duke of Edinburgh received a warm welcome at the hall where many local people turned out to cheer him.

Playing host to the visitor were staff and members of Peterlee Town Council.

As well as handing out hundreds of goody bags to the crowds, the council also organised a photographer for the day.

Many pictures were taken and now the council is to put them on an exhibition to give residents a chance to view the pictures, which will be available for sale.

The exhibition will be held at Shotton Hall, from Wednesday until June 7, and will then move to the town's Tourist and Information Centre, where it will remain open from June 10 to June 21.
