A trainee detective from Northumbria Police has been suspended after nightclub staff found a suspect white powder in her handbag.
The off-duty officer was on a night out with friends when she was stopped by staff at Grey's nightclub in Newcastle on Friday May 17th.
When nightclub staff carried out a routine search of her handbag, a powder, thought to be cocaine was found.
Northumbria Police have confirmed that there was an incident involving a member of Northumbria Police and that an unnamed female officer has been suspended.
The powder has been sent for tests but the results are not expected for several weeks.
As yet there have been no charges made against the officer.
