Turning back the clock
EVERYDAY memories of village life in a Yorkshire dale in the 1950s will be portrayed at Harrogate Theatre next week. The theatre's new writer-in-residence, Jonathan Hall, has penned a play - Portrait of a Dale - which is a flashback to 1953 life and times in Nidderdale. The production has its premiere in the studio theatre followed by performances at a series of village halls in Nidderdale. A theatre spokesman said: "It is a unique glimpse into a rapidly changing world that celebrates Nidderdale's past while looking to its future." The play is being staged on Thursday, June 6, at 8pm. For details of the village hall performances, call (01423) 502116.
