Raiders target two garages
ELECTRICAL equipment has been stolen by burglars from two garages in Darlington.
Thieves who burgled a garage in Wilton Drive, on Saturday afternoon, stole a set of golf clubs on a trolley, which was later found dumped, a Black and Decker cordless drill and a hedge cutter. On Monday afternoon, thieves took only four minutes to raid a garage in Parkland Drive, while the owner was in the back garden. They took a Flymo Turbolite 400 lawnmower and a socket set in a black plastic case. Anyone with information is asked to call Darlington police on (01325) 467681 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
VICTORIAN DAY: Killhope Lead Mining Museum, in Weardale, will celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee in Victorian style on Sunday and Monday. There will be fairground games, hoopla, fortune tellers, craft demonstrations. Visitors wearing period costume will be given free admission on Sunday. Call (01388) 537505 for details.
JUBILEE DANCE: The Darlington Scottish Country Dance Group will celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee during their annual summer end of season dance, at the Central Hall of the Dolphin Centre on Saturday night. The first part of the event will feature dances to music associated with the Queen and other members of the Royal Family.
GARDEN FETE: A garden fete will be held at George Dent Nursery, Elms Road, Darlington, on Saturday, June 29, from 2pm. Entry is 50p for adults, free for children.
SPONSORED WALK: There will be a sponsored eight-mile dog walk in Darlington on Saturday, June 15, to raise funds for the South Durham and North Yorkshire branch of the RSPCA. For details call Linda Evans on (01325) 241129.
COUNCIL MEETING: Wear Valley District Council's community services committee will meet tonight, in the Civic Centre, Crook. Items for discussion include food safety campaigns, environmental projects and grant aid for the arts.

TRACTOR STOLEN: A Massey Ferguson tractor was stolen from a compound in Sedgefield village between 4pm on Saturday and 8.30am on Monday.
