A three-year plan to cut crime and improve the quality of life for North Yorkshire residents has been unveiled.
The community safety strategy was launched in the Ryedale district last month after an extensive survey of residents in the area.
Ryedale District Council officer Ana Richards said a handbook outlining the scheme's aims was the next step forward.
"There were a number of objectives listed under each theme about issues around community safety and this is the action we will be taking over the next three years," she said.
Inspector Tony Landray, of North Yorkshire Police, said officers were spreading the message about crime prevention measures.
He said: "We don't want to upset residents and have them living in fear.
"We want to promote the fact that prevention is always better than cure at the end of the day.
