Princess Royal to pay visit
The Princess Royal will be guest of honour at an event entitled Voice of the Horse day at Houghall College, Durham. Tickets cost £6 for adults and £3 for under-16s. GIRL FOUND: Rachel Taylor, 13, from Dalston, Cumbria, who went missing from home and was suspected to be in the area covered by Northumbria police, has returned safe and well. Cumbria police thank the public for its help following an appeal in the North-East.
JUBILEE PARTY: Staff and pupils at Durham's Trinity School will take part in a jubilee party on Friday. The event will begin at noon with a picnic. There will be games and singing in the afternoon.
SOCCER SCHOOLS: Sunderland FC is holding community soccer courses for four to 14-year-olds on Thursday and Friday, June 6 and 7, at the Park View Community Association, Chester-le-Street, and Durham Gilesgate Sports College, Gilesgate, Durham. For more details, call 0191-551 5191.
FUN RUN: Staff from Frankland Prison, Durham, will be among those taking part in the Finchale Force jubilee fun run, at Finchale Primary School, from 5pm tomorrow. The event will include stalls and other attractions.
VARIETY SHOW: The Rotary Club of Consett will present a variety show at the Consett Empire on Wednesday, June 12, at 7pm. The Leadgate Gleemen singers, Greencroft School Dancers and comedian Alf Douglas will perform. All money raised will go to local charities. MP SURGERIES: Durham North MP Kevan Jones holds surgeries on the first Saturday of every month. This week's surgeries will be held at St Mary's and St Cuthbert's Parish Centre, Church Chare, Chester-le-Street, from 9.30am to 10.30am and, by appointment only, at Asda, Front Street, Stanley, from noon to 1pm. Anyone wishing to book an appointment at the Stanley surgery should call (01207) 235721. The monthly surgery at Sacriston has been moved to Saturday, June 8, due to a temporary library closure. It will be held at the library on Plawsworth Road, from 11am to 11.30am.
