A NATIONAL fundraising event in aid of cancer research is coming to Darlington for the first time.
Cancer Research's Race for Life event will be held in the town on Sunday, July 14.
Organisers are looking for women of all ages and fitness levels to take part. They can either run, jog or walk the 5km charity run, which starts in South Park.
The aim is to raise money for women who have been affected by cancer and organisers are hoping that up to 1,000 women will take part and raise more than £60,000.
Race organiser David Martin said: "The great thing about Race for Life is that women of all ages and abilities can come together and really make a difference.
"Cancer touches so many people's lives and whatever cancer means to you Race for Life is your chance to do something about it."
With only weeks before the event, organisers are hoping as many women as possible will enrol to take part. Anyone interested is asked to call 08705 134314 or visit www.raceforlife.co.uk.
There is an entry fee of £7.50, £4.50 for girls under 18, and all women are expected to raise at least £50 sponsorship to go to Cancer Research UK.
Everyone competing will receive a medal and a goody bag to commemorate their contribution.
