A CONCERT of maritime songs and shanties will be performed by a North-East folk singer as part of celebrations for a special lifeboat anniversary.
Redcar Lifeboat Station and the Zetland Lifeboat, the oldest lifeboat in the world, are both celebrating their 200th anniversaries along with the Sir James Knott lifeboat, which came to Redcar 30 years ago and now has pride of place in the Kirkleatham Museum in the area.
Richard Grainger will be giving a free concert on Sunday from 1.30pm until 5pm and will launch his new CD which features four new songs, including one about the Zetland and one remembering the Greek cargo ship Dimitri, which sank off Redcar in 1953.
The Sir James Knott is open to the public Tuesdays to Sundays 2pm until 4pm.
