PUPILS from 42 schools in Wear Valley are to give England athlete Alison Curbishley an early taste of the Commonwealth Games.
The children from primary, special and secondary schools are preparing for a mini-version of the games which take place in Manchester this summer.
Ms Curbishley, a member of the England squad, will be the guest at the opening of the festival of sport at the University of Durham sports centre at Maiden Castle, Durham, on Thursday, June 27.
Sports include cricket, mini-hockey, tag rugby and table tennis, with a fun run for all children drawing the event to a close. The pupils will receive commemorative medals as they cross the finishing line.
