MIDDLEHAM residents will be putting their best foot forward to honour the Queen this weekend.
A ten-mile walk around the town's boundaries, arranged by Jonathan Watkins and Steve Rowlett, sets off from Middleham Town Hall at 10am.
The first section follows the River Ure and returns to the town centre in time for lunch, with the first of two afternoon sections leaving the town hall for the River Cover at 1.30pm.
The final stretch leaves Pinkers Pond at 3.30pm, following a route via Challenge Wood back to Middleham.
There is a £5 fee for those wishing to complete all three sections and enjoy the walk lunch.
Alternatively, walkers can join the afternoon sessions for £3, with soft drinks provided.
Anyone wishing to take part is asked to arrive half an hour before the walks set off, to allow time for registration.
A children's sports day is planned on Monday while, on Tuesday, golden jubilee celebrations will continue in the town centre.
A fancy dress parade leaves Middleham School for the market place at 4.30pm with live entertainment and a barbecue planned in the town centre throughout the afternoon.
The celebrations will close with a torch-lit procession to the sports field, which leaves the square at 9.30pm, in time for a community fireworks display.
