A TOWN'S carnival has been hailed a success after hundreds of people attended the event.
The highlight of the day at Shildon Town Carnival was the parade of floats featuring schools, businesses and residents all dressed up for the theme of kings and queens.
Float prize winners were Eldon Lane Primary School, with its version of the Egyptian Kings and Queens. Jubilee Fields Community Centre was second with its theme of different monarchs throughout the years, and Mynans came third with its Pearly Kings and Queens theme.
Secretary of Shildon Chamber of Trade John Bowman said: "It was a great day but we could not have done it without Dunn's Haulage and Hudson Transport which supported us from the very beginning.
