THE Bishop Auckland branch of Diabetes UK holds a coffee morning on Monday, June 10, from 10.30am to 2.30pm, at the offices of the Durham Dales Centre Primary Care Trust, in Tenters Street. On Wednesday, June 12, Dr Stephenson will address the first monthly meeting in the new premises. The charity is appealing for volunteers to join a sponsored walk through the Auckland Castle Park on June 16, from 11am. All the money raised goes towards research into diabetes. culture taste: Members of St Helen Auckland Youth Inclusion programme will visit Ochis Mediterranean restaurant to learn about West Indian culture on Thursday. As well as taking part in cooking activities and having talks about the culture, they will also have a traditional meal.

COUNTRY WALK: A ten-mile walk around Hamsterley and the Bedburn Valley starts from the car park in Hamsterley Forest Visitors' Centre, tomorrow, at 10.30am. Advanced booking is not required, but there is a charge of £2 for adults and £1 for children, the over 60s and unwaged. Walkers are asked to bring a packed lunch. CARS DAMAGED: Vandals used a sharp implement to damage several cars. The incident happened in Cockerton Green, Darlington, at about 4pm on Thursday. Police have received at least four reports from owners whose vehicles had been damaged. It is thought that other cars may also have been vandalised.
