CHILDREN at a Teesside school enjoyed a day of gruesome experiments, courtesy of an award-winning writer. Nick Arnold, author of the best-selling series of books, Horrible Science, visited year nine pupils at Rye Hills School, in Redcar. The author is pictured, above, with 14-year-old pupil Lauren Greenwood. The youngsters acted as "guinea pigs" during a series of experiments designed to show that science can be fun. A school spokeswoman said: "The day was also intended to encourage more pupils to think of a career in the field of science."
