NEWS of a multi-million pound North-East library is spreading around the world.
Local radio ham John Hersom is making sure fellow enthusiasts know about facilities available at Durham's Clayport Library, part of the £29m Millennium City complex.
The library was officially opened by the Queen during her Golden Jubilee visit earlier this month.
Mr Hersom, from Gilesgate, near Durham, who uses the call sign G7BYE, is learning to use a computer in the library's digital media suite, which has 22 machines.
Geoff Pratt, the library's cyberskills and open learning officer, is also a radio ham.
He said: "John is keen to keep his international contacts up to date with events going on in the library. Amateur operators around the world were eager to hear details of the Queen's visit to Durham this month.
