YOUNGSTERS have raised their voices in celebration to mark the completion of a £200,000 school improvement project.
Pupils from the Church of England primary school at Husthwaite, near Easingwold, were joined by the Archbishop of York, Dr David Hope, at the ceremony.
The outdoor service of dedication marked the completion of a new classroom and library at the school. The latter uses technology which dispenses with the use of library cards for a machine which recognises individual thumbprints.
Also attending the celebrations was Sir Christopher Ball, education advisor to the Esmnee Fairburn Trust, which helped fund the development.
Husthwaite was chosen to be part of the trust's Shall They All Read (Star) programme because of its rural location - the other four taking part are all inner-city schools.
The scheme will see the school developing a blueprint for other rural schools.
