A SCHEME to provide low cost parking for people in Ryedale has taken to the road.
The local authority is using its refuse lorries and street cleaning vans to raise the profile of the short-stay parking permit which allows parking from 6p a day.
The vehicles, which are used throughout the district, are displaying information about the permits, which are available from tourist information centres and council area offices.
"Short-stay parking permits provide the ideal way for Ryedale residents to have cost- effective parking throughout the district," said council chairwoman Helen Schroeder, who launched the new look vehicles.
"We hope that the message that the permits are available will be seen by as many people as possible throughout the Ryedale area."
