PINT-SIZED "royals" donned their finest regalia yesterday for a special procession yesterday.
Dripping with foil diamonds and jewellery, nursery, infant and junior pupils at Durham High School for Girls paraded around the school to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee.
The costumes had been made by parents and children and included an array of crowns and long dresses.
Patricia Burton, from the school, said: "They looked beautiful, there was even the odd one with a sword. They came into the senior school, where the corridors were all lined with flags and the students there clapped as they walked past."
Meanwhile, senior school pupils and teachers spent the day dressed in football strips to raise money for St Cuthbert's Hospice, in Durham.
The school is raising money for the hospice during the World Cup campaign. On Sunday, pupils and teachers will be able to watch England's first game on the big screen for a £3 entry fee.
