A DISABLED woman has raised money for a speaking book in memory of her friend.
Alison Kendall, a resident of the Rockcliffe Court Residential Home, in Hurworth, completed a 20-length sponsored swim at Northallerton swimming pool to raise the £430 needed to create a speaking book for the Royal National Institute for the Blind .
The 48-year-old, who has physical disabilities, has dedicated the talking book, a Barbara Taylor Bradford tale, to her partially-sighted friend Sharon Butler, who died just under a year ago at the home.
Home manager Liz Benyans said: "Alison just thought it would be a really nice thing to do, to dedicate the book to her friend.
"She uses the talking books herself so it was her way of giving something back."
