TWO new housing developments, costing £1.7m, are about to get under way.
The Nomad Housing Group, a provider of affordable housing, has awarded contracts for the developments in the Gateshead area.
They will be completed within the next 12 months, providing 31 new bungalows for rent.
The first scheme comprises 15, two-bedroom bungalows, to be built at Woodvale Road, Winlaton.
The £900,000 contract went to Roderick Brown Construction, of Houghton-le-Spring, Wearside.
A further 16 bungalows will be built in Springwell Road, Wrekenton.
The £800,000 contract was won by Kendall Cross Holdings, of Ponteland, Northumberland.
