A CHIROPODIST'S clients are walking on air after she set up a mobile business.
Michelle Johnson, 23, is the second female chiropodist in the Durham area to be supported into self-employment by the Prince's Trust.
She qualified at New College, Durham, and spent part of her training at the former Dryburn Hospital.
Believing that older patients in particular would benefit from a home chiropody service, she decided to provide it, and thanks to a £1,500 loan and a £250 grant, began trading from her home at Nettlesworth, near Chester-le-Street.
In the few months she has been operating, she has acquired more than 100 clients and is looking to expand.
She said: "I always wanted to work in health but after deciding I didn't want to be a nurse, I looked at different subjects and chose chiropody.
"It's rewarding and satisfying, especially when after treatment, clients tell me they are walking on air and give me a hug."
